Anuj Shrivatri dominates 2nd Nagpur One Day Rapid Rating Open 2024 with a perfect score

Top seed of the tournament, IM Anuj Shrivatri scored 100%, 9/9 to win 2nd Nagpur Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. IM Aaditya Dhingra, CM Arush Chitre and Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya scored 8/9 each. They secured second to fourth place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹50000 + trophy, ₹30000 and ₹20000 each respectively. The one-day rapid rating tournament was organized by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation on 18th August 2024 at G H Raisoni Institute of Engineering & Technology in Nagpur, Maharashtra. IMs claim four out of top five

IM Anuj Shrivatri made a fiery start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a full point lead over the competition heading into the final round. A draw would have made him a clear champion, yet he went on to beat Rushikesh Kabnurakar in the final round to win the tournament with a perfect score 9/9. IM Aaditya Dhingra defeated Niranjan Mocharla to finish second. 13-year-old CM Arush Chitre is the only non-IM to finish in top five. He won against FM Garv Gaur to finish third. 27th seeded 12-year-old Nihaan Pohane scored an impressive 7/9 to finish seventh.

A total of 349 players including 4 IMs and a WIM took part from all over the country in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at G H Raisoni Institute of Engineering & Technology in Nagpur, Maharashtra on 18th August 2024. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
