Anastasia Bodnaruk wins 2nd International Women's Championship 2024, Soumya Swaminathan second

The reigning World Rapid Women's champion, IM Anastasia Bodnaruk scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 2nd International Women's Chess Championship 2024. She finished a half point ahead of others. IM Soumya Swaminathan and WIM Mariam Mkrtchyan (ARM) scored 7/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The tournament was dedicated to the International Women's Day. The total prize fund of the tournament was US$ 50000. The top three prizes were $6000, $5000 and $4000 each respectively. This was the third rating tournament Soumya played in 2024 and she secured her first podium finish of the year.

A total of 71 players including 4 IMs, 4 WGMs and 8 WIMs took part from eleven countries across the world. The tournament was organized by Uzbekistan Chess Federation at Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 6th to 12th March 2024. The time control was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
